Guidelines for Use of Materials from the
Children's Department
A limit of five items (excluding videos) may be
checked out with a child's card. A child may check out only
two books per subject if the material is for a school report
and other children may need the materials.
A patron is responsible for the library materials checked out
on his/her card. Fines will be charged to patrons who deface, destroy, or damage
library materials.
If library materials are lost or damaged beyond repair (badly
torn or missing pages, pet damage, water damage), the patron is responsible to
pay the cost of the material plus a processing fee.
If an item is found and returned in good condition to the
library within three months, the cost of the material will be refunded to the
patron. The processing fee is not refundable. Patrons may not substitute a book,
etc. in lieu of the lost or damaged material.
Library privileges may be denied for due cause, such as,
failure to return library materials, failure to pay excessive fines, failture to
pay for lost or damaged materials, destruction of library property, or
objectionable conduct on library premises.
Circulation Period - Deadlines
All children's materials can be checked out for three weeks. Books and magazines
may be returned in the book drop when the library is closed. All audio materials
should be returned to the desk and NOT placed in the book-drop.
Teacher Cards
The library allows teachers for public, private or home schools to apply for a
teacher card. Applications for the card are to be made at the upstairs desk, and
must be renewed annually. With this card, a teacher can check out up to 25
materials (excluding videos) with a due date up to a maximum of 2 months.
Limitations on the number of books checked out on a single subject applies;
especially, if that subject is in high demand. Please try to return your
materials as soon as you are finished using them in the classroom- other patrons
may be waiting for them. Please inform the Children's department of assignments
the whole class will be doing - we could pull some material on the subject and
have it on reserve for children to use at the library.
- Materials on a Teacher Card cannot be renewed since the teacher can set his/her
own due date.
- Overdue fines are charged.
- The card holder is responsible for lost and damaged materials.
